Colour boxes.-A device for holding tubes of artists' colours comprises a carrier in the form of a rod or bar 1, Fig. 1, of triangular cross-section, having in it a series of spaced apertures 2, into which are inserted the nozzles of colour tubes 9, so that, when the tubes are squeezed, the colours emerge through the apertures on to the surface of the bar. The bar 1 may be hinged to a second bar 7, so that, when the bars are closed together, the apertures 2 are sealed. Two bars 7 may be secured at opposite ends of a board 10, so as to form a box-like structure, in which the tubes lie when in closed position. A cover, adapted to serve as a palette, may be provided, and may be clipped between the hinges 6 of the bars, when the tubes are in the open position. The board 10 may serve as a reversible lid for a box, which is adapted to receive the tubes and carriers, when in the closed position. The carrier may be in the form of a strip 1, Fig. 5, hinged to a, second strip 7, to which it may be clipped, in order to retain the tubes within a box or cover 17. A hinged bottom-board 18 is lowered to allow the tubes to fall into the position of use. The tubes may be mounted in the carrier by means of internally-screwed collars 13, Fig. 6, and replaceable bushes 15 of hard material may be inserted in the apertures 2. The collar and bush may be in one piece, closed at the end, as shown in Fig. 8, and may be integral with the tube 9. The outer end of the bush is cut off when the tube. is required for use.
