Description

NOV. 17, 1931. 5 KLElNBERG 1,832,561
BAG HOLDER Filed April 11. 1929 i atented Nov. 17, 1931 UNITED STATES SAMUEL KLEINBE-RG, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BAG HOLDER Application filed April 11,
My invention relates to improvements in bag holders and the object of the invention is to construct a device for holding the mouth of a bag open so that it may be filled with the greatest facility.
A further object is to devise improved means for holding the material of the bag in position on the holder so that/no damage will be done thereto.
WVith these and other objects in View which will hereinafter appear my invention consists of a device constructed and arranged all as hereinafter more particularly described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 represents a vertical longitudinal section of my device showing the same mounted on a support and the bag in position on such bag holder.
Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof.
Fig. 3 is a vertical. cross sectional view through the line 3-3 Fig. 2.
Like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the diflerent views. My device is constructed of two opposed substantially U-shaped portions 1 and 2 hinged together at their free ends, thus comprising a hinged frame. The transverse parts of the portions 1 and 2 are provided respectively with outwardly extending upper flanges 3 and 4 with their ends protruding beyond the longitudinal parts of the portions 1 and 2 to constitute bag material engaging lugs 5 and 6.
The portion 1 is also provided with outwardly extending lower longitudinal flanges 7 and a transverse flange 8 by means of which the portion 1 is secured'to any suitable support, such as the table 9. The table has a recess corresponding in area to the area of the frame.
In using the device the bag 10 is inserted through the frame, the portion 2 being swung up the requisite extent, (as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 1) until the material in the vicinity of the mouth of the bag can be folded over the top of the portions 1 and 2, the lugs 5 and 6 and the flanges 3 and 4: engaging such material and preventing its accidental displacement from the portions 1 1929. SeriaI No. 354,384.
and 2. The latter frame portion is then swung down into the horizontal posit-ion illustrated in full lines in Fig. 1, with the result that the mouth of the bag 10 is eX- tended to its fullest extent when such bag may be filled with ease.
The provision of the flanges 3 and 4 with the protruding lugs 5 and 6 allows of the mouth of the bag being held firmly in place on the device Without the liability of the material of such bag being damaged.
To remove the bag from the portions 1 and 2 it is only necessary to swing up the portion 2 again when the mouth can readily be disengaged from the flanges 3 and 1 and their lugs 5 and 6.
What I claim as my invention is:
A bag holder comprising a U-shaped frame having a flange on one side attachable to a support through which a bag may be extended and a flange on the other side 7 upon which the upper edge portion of a flexible bag may be folded and supported, and
a second U-shaped frame having its ends pivotally connected with the ends of the first U-shaped frame and provided with outwardly disposed bag holding means upon which the upper edge portion of the bag may be folded and supported, said second U-shaped frame being adapted to lie in the same bag supporting plane as the first frame and to be raised while supporting a bag, so that the folded edge portion of the bag may be re leased from the holder.
