ADJUSTABLE AND ATTACHABLE BOX COVER.

Application filed December 9, 1924, Serial No. 754,839, and in Great Britain December 13, 1923.

This invention relates to an adjustable and attachable box cover which may be used time after time in connection with any number of boxes of suitable size to keep dust from sweets or other articles exposed for sale in boxes whilst leaving the goods visible to the public eye.

it is an object of the invention to provide a new or improved cover and other objects are generally to provide a cheap and convenient device adapted to co-operate with a sweetineat box or the like in the manner hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying drawings, and to afford the combinations and arrangements of parts specifically claimed.

As i lustrated at Figs. 1, 2 and 3 the cover comprises a frame 1 in any metal, wood ivorine, xylonite, horn or any suitable substance whatsoever which will hold a transparent surface 2 of glass, Xylonite, whether flammable or non-flammable, or any other suitable transparent substance. Such frame may have superimposed on it, printed, embossed, enamelled, inlaid or in any manner whatsoever, suitable lettering design or mark to identify or advertise, or describe goons or for any similar purpose, or same may be plain finished.

Secured to the frame is an elastic band 3 or bands so arranged that when clasped around any box the ordinary cover 5 of which may remain open or be removed, the cover provides a protection from dust, flies, etc, whilst the contents remain visible and in a hygienic condition.

The elastic may be fastened to the frame by slot, knot, pressure, device such as a hook, thickness such as a thickened end after being passed through slot, or in any manner whatsoever which accomplish the purpose of providing the necessary band for the purpose in view.

We claim For use in combination with a box having a hinged lid, a transparent cover member having an edge adapted to lie against said lid when the said lid is opened and an expansible band adapted to encircle said box adjacent said edge and to serve both to retain said cover member normally shut and to press its said edge against said lid to form a pivot upon the raising of said cover member.
