Printing processes.-In the production of pictures by printing in one or more transparent colours on metallic bases, which have been previously covered with a layer of varnish, a varnish is employed having a base of nitrocellulose or other cellulose derivative. The metallic base may be gilded, silvered, or bronzed paper, or may consist of thin sheet metal without a paper support. The metallic surface may be given a design in relief before or after the printing.
