Abstract

302,513. Mortier, V. Jan. 23, 1928. Lay-figure stands. - A lay-figure is divided horizontally through the chest, the upper part being supported so that it may be adjusted as a whole in any desired direction relative to the lower part to lengthen the back or front part of the figure or to adjust one shoulder higher than the other. In the construction shown the figure is divided at 3 and the parts 1, 2 so formed are connected by bolts 6, provided with springs 8, so that the parts are vertically separable. The upper part 2 is held in adjusted position by springy levers 12 attached to the part 2 and engaged with vertical racks 9 secured in the lower part 1. The levers 12 are operated through the arm holes 13. The bust is covered, back and front, by a flexible corsetlet 14, made solely or partly of rubber, secured by a string around the waist. The corsetlet may hold stuffing material in place. The figure is also provided with a corset 15 consisting of two sides, a front and a back connected together by elastic strings 15<1>, each part being adjustabdy secured, by press-stud fastenings 16, to the figure part 1. The corset is made of elastic material provided with longitudinal and transverse ribs.
