CORSET.
Application filed October 20, 1927. Serial No 227,428.
This invention relates to corsets, but particularly has reference to the front stocking this invention is identified is known as the all in one or combination corset which. is a combination garment comprising a brassiere or bust supporter, a diaphragm supporter and an abdomen supporter.
The present invention consists in attaching the ends of the webbing of the front stocking supporters to the diaphragm and abdomen supporters, the stocking clasps themselves having a slidable connection with such webbing.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a broken front elevation of the corset as it appears when worn and equipped with the hose supporters Figure 2 is a similar view with the brassicre cut away, and
Figure 3 is a similar view with the brassiere cut away and the abdomen supporters unfastened and thrown back.
Similar numerals of reference denote like parts in the several figures of the drawing.
1 is the brassiere portion of the corset, 2 are flap portions stitched attheir outer edges to the outside of the portion 1 at the sides of the latter, these flaps 2 having respectively at their upper inner corners any suitable connecting devices, whereby these corners may be pivotally connected, in the present instance a hook 3 being secured to one corner, and a series of eyelets 4: secured to the other corner so that these flaps may be tightened or loosened around the wearer by engaging the hook with different eyelets.
' These flap portions constitute that portion of the corset which supports the abdomen.
5 are the diaphragm supporting sections whose outer edges are stitched to the inner face of the brassiere portion 1 in the usual manner, and whose inner edges are secured togetherin any suitable manner, as by the usual clasp members 6, 7
The corset, as above described, is well l ll()\\11,'2l11tl,tl1(3 present invention consists in securing the ends of elastic stocking sup porting wcbbings 8 to the inner lower corner portions of the sections 5 and the inner lower corner portions of the flaps 2.
The leg motion of the wearer will cause the stocking clasps to constantly slide back and forth along the webbing and the incident strains will be supported solely by the diaphragm contact members 5, and the abdomen contact members 2, the result being that, when a wearer of'this corset, equipped with stocking supporters in the manner described. is exercising, there will always be a continual kneading pressure exerted against the diaphragm and abdomen, and
especially against the latter, since the flaps 5 will be constantly swinging to and fro owing to their pivotal connection.
Also, the vertical strains on the webbings 8- will be supported by the comparatively rigid sections 5 and the swinging flaps 2, the result being that there is no wrinkling or distortion of the latter, thus rendering it unnecessary to reenforce these flaps by metallic structures.
What is claimed is 1. In a corset consisting of a brassiere port on, diaphragm sect-ions secured to the inside of said portion and abdomen flaps pivotally connected and secured to-the out side of said portion, stocking supporters comprising elastic webbings whose ends are secured to the lower front edges of said sections and flaps, and stocking claspssli'dably connected to said webbings.
2. In a corset having comparatively firm sections adapted to be clasped against the diaphragm and flaps whose upper inner corners are pivotally connectedwhich flaps are outside said sections and are positioned againstthe abdomen, elastic webbings whose ends are secured to the lower inner corner portions of said sections and flaps, and
stock ng clasps that are 'slidably disposed on oLrvEn e. mourns,
' hereto.
