Abstract
302,241. Siemens - - Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges. Dec. 12, 1927, [Convention date]. Feedwater, controlling.-Feedwater is supplied to a manifold 3 by a pump 1 driven by an electric motor controlled by the pressure in the manifold acting through a spring loaded diaphragm 25, servo-motor 28 and resistance 29. The boiler comprises a series of pipes arranged in parallel and the entrance of feedwater to each pipe is controlled by a valve 12 controlled by the pressures on each side of a throttling disc 11 arranged in the pipes near their entrance to the steam collector 10. The valves are actuated by oil pressure acting on pistons 13 under the control of auxiliary valves 20 connected to floating levers 18 coupled to the pistons 13 and to the spring loaded control diaphragms 15. A modification is described in which the valves are further controlled bv the pressures on opposite sides of an apertured pla.te arranged near the entrance to the pipes, and in a further modification the control pressures act directly on the main piston.
