Billiards, chalk-holders for.-The billiard chalkholder claimed in the parent Specification is modified by making the tip-roughening part detachable from its supporting part, e.g. by covering the sieve-like closure for the French chalk container by a removable piece of roughening material clamped at its edges by an annular cap placed over the sieve-like closure. The receptacle for the French chalk is also made detachable from the portion holding the chalk block. The French chalk receptacle c<4> is shown in Fig. 1 detached from the chalk-block holder c, Fig. 2. The upper part of the receptacle is seamed over at c<8> so as to form abutments for the sprinkling sieve f<1> and the cap g. The cap has a central opening g<1> beneath which is placed a piece of emery cloth b<1> or other roughening member which besides being available for roughening the cue tip, acts as a closure for the sieve. The edges of the emery cloth lie between the flanges of the sieve f<1> and the cap g, and the emery cloth adheres to the cap when it is removed. To ensure the adhesion the cap may be formed with a beading g<3> into which the emery cloth is sprung. The receptacle c<4> may be connected to the chalk-block holder c by bavonet fastenings c<11>, c<14>, or may screw into the holder, thus providing a means for forcing the chalk-block forward as it becomes worn. The emery cloth may be replaced by an ivory plate bearing the owner's name.
