Abstract

300,334. Abel, E., and Maschinenfabrik Deutschland Ges. Aug. 80, 1927. Car-replacers. - Fluid -pressureoperated jacking-apparatus for resetting derailed railway vehicles on the rails comprises hydraulic jacks for lifting the vehicle and pushing it into alignment, bridging rails, a trolley for supporting the raised vehicle and a pressure transformer for utilizing compressed air from the brake system &c. to supply pressure water for the jacks. One end of the derailed locomotive 1, Fig. 1, is raised by a hydraulic jack 3, bridging rails 7 are then placed across the track under a pair of wheels and the locomotive lowered thereon. The other end of the locomotive is similarly manipulated and the locomotive is then pushed into alignment with the track rails by a second jack 8, Fig. 2, acting on one of the wheels. The bridging rails may be fitted with a trolley 10, Fig. 5, adapted, as shown, to receive the flange of one of the wheels. The trolley is connected by a chain 11 to the cylinder 13 of a compressed air servo-motor, the hollow ram 16 of which is fixed and serves as a conduit for the pressure medium. By means of the servo-motor the locomotive can be traversed laterally and reset on the rails. The jacks may be mounted on trollies placed on bridging rails and traversed bv the servo-motor. The pressure transformer comprises a compressed-air cylinder 20, Fig. 8, containing a piston 21. with extended piston-rods 51 acting as pump plungers and acting on water drawn into the plunger cylinders 19 from reservoirs 52 through inlet valves 53 and discharged under pressure through outlet valves 54. Distributing valves 57, Fig. 9, are used to regulate the supply of pressure water to the jacks. Compressed air is supplied to the transformer through a pipe. 24, slide. valve 25 and passages 22. The slide valve is operated by the piston 21 at the ends of itsstroke striking pins 42 in the cylinder ends, the pins acting on pivoted levers connected to a rod. 35, Fig. 7, connected by a bent lever 31 to a second slide valve 29, Fig. 9, which controls the admission of the compressed air to one or other side of the valve piston 27 to which the valve 25 is connected.
