[Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXII] The chassis 12 of a tipping vehicle, which may, as shown, be a trailer vehicle connected to a tractor platform 22, is reinforced, during tilting of the body 26, by hydraulic cylinders 50 beneath the chassis and having plates 58 on the pistons which are brought into contact with the ground by pressure fluid from the pump supplying the tilting cylinder 32, the contact with the ground taking place prior to tilting of the body. Check valves 90, 901 through which pressure fluid from the pump 62 passes to the cylinder 50 are closed by the pressure built up after contact of the plates 58 with the ground so that the plates are rigidly held on the ground, there being, however, no tendency for the cylinders 50 to raise the chassis; the valves 90, 90<1> are normally kept open by springs 102 and are closed by the builtup pressure acting upon pistons 100 on the ends of the valve spindles, this pressure also acting through conduits 78 and 48 upon the lifting jacks 32 to tip the body 26. A control valve 64 connected to the pressure side .of the pump 62 may be set either to supply pressure fluid through the conduit 78 or to delivery it through return pipe 72 to lower the body 26.
