Locking by frictional detents. - A brake for perambulators comprising a shoe b to engage one of the wheels and an operating arm and means for holding the arm in the. " on " or " off " position, is provided with a toothed rack n and the operating arm m is flexed laterally so as normally to engage the teeth of the rack. The brake shoe b is adjustably held on one end of a spindle f by a set screw g. The spindle f is carried in a bracket j secured to a longitudinal frame member and is surrounded by a return spring k. To the other end of the spindle f the arm m is riveted and extends through the slotted bracket n secured to the back axle. The arm m is given a twist out of the vertical in order to engage the rack.
