Doors for passenger vehicles. - The door of a motor or like vehicle comprises a hollow box-like or braced lower panel 9, Fig. 2, the sides 10 of which extend upwardly to form a window opening 6, the structure being adapted to receive the window runs, the window, and the raising and lowering gear as an addition to the inner side of the door, preferably within a recess 17 in the lower panel. In the construction shown the door comprises a timber framing 1, Fig. 4, of L-section, one limb 3 of which projects inwardly in the plane of the door and at the lower part of the door serves, together with a lower L-sectioned cross-rail 4, Fig. 3, and an upper cross-rail 5 at the bottom of the window opening, for the attachment of plywood 8 defining the recess 17. Plywood 11 is also attached to the outside of the framing to complete the hollow structure, which may be strengthened by diagonal stays 16. At the upper part of the door the L-shaped framing is adapted to receive the window run channels, while the plywood 8, 11 may be extended around the window opening 6. When a metal framing 1 is employed instead of a timber framing, the complete closure or cover on the inner side of the door may be replaced by a number of bracing strips, while the entire framing and outer part of the lower panel may be formed in one piece by pressing operations.
