Abstract
297,964. Arrowsmith, G., and Hick, Hargreaves, & Co., Ltd. Sept. 21, 1927. Liquids and gases, separating. - In deaerating plant of the kind wherein the water is sprayed into a vacuum chamber the spraying-nozzle area is varied according to the load conditions. Preferably a number of nozzles are provided which are successively brought into action by the fall of a float within the chamber. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the nozzles are arranged on two or more radial pipes c to which water is admitted by ports c<1>, c<2> placed at different heights. A piston valve d operated by a float e successively uncovers the ports as the water level falls in the chamber. Three suitable types of nozzle are shown respectively in section in Figs. 2 and 4 and in plan in Fig. 5. According to a further feature of the invention plant of the kind referred to is provided with a cooler or condenser between the chamber and the evaculating device. Specification 215,832 is referred to.
