Abstract

297,446. American Blower Corporation, (Assignees of Morse, C. T., and Hogan, E. L.). Sept. 22, 1927, [Convention date]. Density separators.-Dust-laden gases, such as the gases from the blast furnace 1, are led to the separator 3 in which the heavy dust parrticles, are separated, while the gas with a quantity of fine dust passes through the pipe 7 to the disintegrator 8. Water is sprayed into this machine from the pipe 9 and the moistened gas passes through the pipe 10 to the separator 11. This has a closed conical casing 12 with a tangential inlet 15 anc a spiral track 16 which decreases in width from the inlet until it terminates in a point 18 at the dust outlet 17. The water and dust are deposited on the track 16 and pass downwards to the vessel 13; the clean gas passes out through the central tube 14. The heavy dust from the first separator 3 drops into the container 5 and is returned by the conveyer 6 to the furnace 1.
