Forced ventilation; ventilating-pipes, arrangements of.-Conditioned air in small quantities is ejected at high velocity into large enclosures, such as theatres, so that the ejector stream moves across the enclosure in such manner as to cause a. uniform and definite movement or circulation of the body of the atmosphere in the enclosure, thereby dissipating the momentum of the entering air without the creation of uncontrolled currents in the enclosure. Ejector nozzles 21 are provided in one or more laterally-arranged pipes 19 connected to the ends 11, 12 of branches 10<a> leading from a conduit 10. The air is extracted through ducts 13, 15 leading to a vertical conduit which is forked at its upper end, one branch exhausting to the outer atmosphere and the other 16 leading to the supply side of the delivery fan 9. A spray device 18 and heater 22 may be disposed in the fresh air conduit 17. The nozzles 21 on each of the pipes 19 deliver a substantially horizontal stream of air across the enclosure, and the size of such nozzles is such that the air stream does not impinge upon an obstruction such as the proscenium arch 2 of a theatre. The pipes 19 may be housed behind the decorative plasterwork of a theatre. Specifications 133,897 and 273,069 are referred to.
