Abstract
297,285. Redfern, C. K., (Brunt, P.). March 2, 1928. Borehole apparatus.-In a well-boring tool comprising a two-part body containing a spring- pressed mandrel carrying expanding cutters, the upper end of the lower part b of the body is reduced to form a screw-threaded, preferably tapering, projection i without encroaching on the passages h for flushing fluid, and the lower end of the upper part a has a corresponding threaded socket j to engage the projection i and opening into the bore of the part a. The bore of the part b is closed by a threaded plug k with a conical upper end, the adjacent part of the socket j also being conical. Rounded shoulders m are provided on the cutters. Specification 200,202 is referred to.
