Bore-hole apparatus. -In a well-boring tool of the core-cutting type provided also with teaming cutters so that core-cutting and reaming may be performed simultaneously, pivots for the reaming cutters are dispensed with, the thrust on said cutters being wholly taken by an abutment on the carrier. The tool shown is formed in three sections a, b, c threaded together, the lower section a carrying core-cutters d and being formed in two parts, the lower part having two downwardly converging grooves in which core-grips v are slidably mounted; the intermediate section b has an enlargement g provided with longitudinal rectangular recesses receiving the shanks of reaming cutters i, the cutter shanks having wedgeshaped projections k engaging similar grooves in the sides of the recesses, while springs o act through cutter extensions m to hold the cutters i in their rearward positions with their backs against flats l on the part b. Passages s lead water to the cutters i from the interior of the tool; a plug may be inserted in the lower end of the part c to prevent water from reaching the core, the plug being removed when a long core is required.
