Abstract
296,935. Erba Akt.-Ges. Nov. 22, 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 294,621. Sulphonated oils &c.-The process of the parent Specification for sulphonating castor oils or allied fatty oils in the presence of bleaching agents is used for the sulphonation of other animal or vegetable oils, fats, fatty acids or waxes capable of sulphonation. The process can be applied to polybasic acids such as mucic, adipic or suberic acids and to waxes such as Japan wax, beeswax or carnauba wax. The sulphonation may be carried out with organic sulphonic acids such as #-naphthalenesulphonic acid with or without sulphuric acid. The products may be used for the treatment of textiles and possess a softening power for natural or artificial fibres and spun yarns. Specification 292,574 is referred to.
