Overhead lamps.-In an overhead electric lamp one or more bulbs 3 is or are surrounded by a glass member 5 which has a matt surface, extends downwardly from the holder 2 for a part or the whole of the length of the bulb or bulbs, and carries, or is formed in one with, one or more shades 8, 9 of any desired shapes. In the form shown, the member 5 has a neck or recess 7 engaged by screws 6 extending through holes in a holder 1, and its lower portion is silvered to act as a reflector 8. Also, a reflector 9 is secured in position on a conical portion of the member 5 by means of a resilient open ring 10. The bulbs may be adjusted vertically for focusing purposes, and they may be wholly transparent or have their lower surfaces frosted.
