Abstract

294,690. Spencer, R. W. April 29, 1927. Mine props.-An adjustable pit prop is formed of opposed similar tubular members a and opposed similar loose end fittings f having multiple interlocking projections b and wings c. The projections b are adapted to slide through the wings c forming, with the projections on the coasting sleeve, an adjustable chamber to receive a wooden block which is crushed during collapse of the strut. The wings c coming together prevent further collapse of the prop. In a modification, the projection b and wings o are integral with the tubular members a, as shown in Fig. 4. The sleeves and projections may be ribbed to increase their strengths.
