Abstract

294,530. Aladdin Industries, Ltd., (Assignees of Davis, C. W.). July 25, 1927, [Convention date]. Wick burners, annular blue flames.-In a. blue flame central draught wick burner for use in an incandescent mantle lamp comprising inner and outer wick tubes 1, 2, a wick 3 operated by a wick raiser 3a, a perforated basket 4, and a gallery 6, the gallery 6 carries a baffle 24 formed with perforations 25, 25a and arranged between the outer wick tube and the burner cone. The baffle 24 divides the air entering through the basket 4 into two currents, the main current flowing to the combustion zone above the baffle and a smaller current being directed on to the wick above the wick tube 2 so that the wick does not burn below the perforations 25<a> and overheating of the wick tubes is prevented. The wick tube 2 is made shorter than usual and may be provided with a flame flange 23 which is preferably provided with three notched-cut projections for centralizing the baffle 24. An inturned stiffening flange 26 on the baffle prevents an air current from impinging upon the base of the flame. An example of suitable dimensions is given in the Specification.
