Abstract

294,455. Thompson, G. H. March 10, 1928. Flexible shafts.-A bearing D for rotating tools such as those for descaling tubes is screwed into a housing A and secured therein by radial screws C passing through lugs B integral with the housing A, the screws being locked by cotter pins P. A thrust ball bearing 1 having an oil retaining washer J fits in a recess in the bearing D. The housing A may be pinned or soldered to a flexible shaft casing E, or, as shown, it may be split and screwed on the coils of the casing E and tightened in position by bolts G passing through lugs F.
