Abstract

Roll holders and cases; boxes combined with roll holders.-A memorandum appliance adapted for use as a cigarette case, purse, powder-box, &c. comprises a flat case of metal, tortoiseshell &c. with upper and lower portions 3 hinged together at one side and provided with an aperture 5 in the upper portions to expose a paper strip d which is fed between rollers b, c journaled within slots 4 in the sides of compartments 2<a> formed at the ends of a removable tray-like member 2 enclosed within the case, the central portion 2<b> of the member 2 being pressed upwardly to form a receptacle for the cigarettes &c. The portion 2<b> of the member 2 is disposed beneath the aperture 5 and provides a flat supporting surface for the paper strip, a hinged plate 7 preferably being provided for covering the aperture when the appliance its not in use. The rollers b, c are operated by discs secured thereon and extending through slats in the upper and lower portions of the case and the strip is tensioned over the writing-surface by blade, springs 6 which press the paper rolls against the top of the case.
