Abstract

281,793. Newell, A. L. Sept. 20, 1926. String-holders.-A cylindrical string-holder is provided with a longitudinal slot 11 formed between the edges of a fixed portion 10 and a flexible portion 7 fixed at 7<a> and removably held at 7b by clips or spring-pressed fasteners 8. The cheese 12 of string preferably rests on rollers 13 and a string cutter 17 is preferably provided on the top of the holder. In a modification illustrated in Fig. 4 (not shown), the casing is in two parts hinged together at the top, the movable half engaging projections on the base, and terminating short of the adjacent roller so that a withdrawal slot 11 is provided. The body may be of thin sheet metal stiffened by cardboard &c., and advertisements may be printed on the cardboard &c. In a further modification the body is in one piece and one end is removable.
