Winding and paying-out apparatus on or in connection with portable engines and motor vehicles.-Apparatus for ploughing or furrowing sugar cane and other plantations comprises two tractors B, B' mounted on endless tracks and carrying double winding-drums f for winding-up the end of two cables c, d passing respectively round pulleys c', d' on the ploughs and pulleys c<2>, d<2>, c<3>, d<3> on the tractors, the pulleys c<2>, d<2> being adjustable to correspond to the spacing of the furrows, and arranged symmetrically so that there may be no turning couple about a vertical axis due to the pull of the cables. The cables may be returned to the winches by the arrangement described in Specification 292,125. When the ploughing implement approaches a tractor wheels or rollers on it may run up inclined planes l on the tractor and so raise it out of work. While the implement is thus supported on one of the tractors the two tractors are moved forward into position ready for the next furrows.
