Single-furrow ploughs; lifting parts. - In a subs oiling plough in which the subsoiling tine and share are located in front and to one side of the plough body, so as to run in the furrow last made, the tine is fixed rigidly to the frame and means are provided for raising the frame sufficiently to lift the tine far enough to allow of turning at the headlands and travelling on roads. Fig. 1 shows a two-furrow tractor plough converted into a subsoiling plough. The front plough body is removed and its curved support a<1> connected to the main frame by a frame a<10> and a stay c. The tine e carrying the subsoiling share e<2> is rigidly secured by clips e<1> and a stay d. The inwardly bent cranked axle f<1> of the front furrow wheel is elongated to increase the lift which takes place when it is rocked by mechanism connecting it with the land wheel g. An additional wheel h is mounted in front of the share e<2> to prevent it from penetrating too deeply into the ground. In a horse-drawn plough, the tine e is fixed to a part of the frame built out laterally. The elongated cranked axle is rocked by means of a lever, and the land wheel is moved laterally to prevent the plough from tipping over. In another tractor plough, the tine is fixed to a built-out part of the frame and the front furrow wheel is carried by a vertical rod sliding through the frame and provided with a steering-lever. The frame is raised on the vertical rod by means of a hand-lever and a chain. In another horse-drawn plough, the tine is fixed to one side of the main frame which is adjustable laterally by means of screw bolts. According to the Provisional Specification, a plough body may be used for subsoiling.
