Abstract

229,531. Marks, E. C. R., (Moline Plow Co., Inc.). April 30, 1924. Multiple-furrow ploughs; lifting main frames manually; travelling and propelling gear. - A plough, provided with draught devices that may be adjusted for use with either horses or oxen, is provided with two shares 3, 4, carried by beams 1, 2 connected by braces. The beams are supported by a land wheel crank axle 5 and a furrow wheel axle 6, these axles being journaled directly in openings in the beams. The draught is transmitted to the plough through a bar 9 connected to the rear crank axle 5. A lever 10, pivoted at a point 12 to bars 13, 14, fixed to the beam 1, operates over a toothed sector 15 and is connected by a link 22 to the cranked. axle 5; the lever 10 also carries a toothed sector 20 over which a lever 11, pivoted at 23 on the lever 10. operates. The lever 11 is connected by a link 24 to a crank on the axle 6 and is used to adjust the height of the wheels relatively to each other, actuation of the lever 10 moving both wheels together to raise or lower the shares. In Fig. 1 the plough is shown arranged for horse traction; to adjust it for draught by oxen the wheels are moved further forward by disconnecting the links 22, 24 from the cranked axles 5, 6 respectively and interchanging these axles in their bearings. Both axles are arranged so that their cranks normally point forward, the pivot 12 is shifted forward to a hole 30 in the link 13 and the links 22, 24 connected up again.
