Abstract

291,991. Marks, E. C. R., (Corn Products Refining Co.). Aug. 19, 1927. Glucose.-Starch is converted by dextrose. by acid hydrolysis in successive stages, the second stage being carried on in the absence of substances forming polysaccharides such as gentiobiose. After the first conversion the. liquor is given two successive neutralizing and filtering treatments, increased hydrogen ion concentration being obtained. The solution is then evaporated to a density of 24‹-30‹ BaumÚ and filtered when the second conversion is commenced in the presence of adsorption agents if necessary. The second, and preferably also the first, conversion tables place in vessels having inner walls inert to the hydrolyzing acid. Specification 290,847 is referred to.
