Abstract

291,148. Brinjes & Goodwin, Ltd., and Titterton, F. Feb. 24, 1927. Rotary filters.-The filter cloth of a rotary drum filter is in sections which are separately fixed on the drum. Perforated reinforcements of wood or metal may be provided on either side of the cloth. A wooden drum 1, Fig. 1, is formed with grooves 6. Each filter cloth section 2 is held in place by a perforated plate 4, the ends of the section being clamped in recesses 8 by bars 10, 11, which are fixed to the drum by screws. The heads of these screws hold the plates 4 in position. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, the ends of the plates 4 are bent to enter the recess and the bent ends with their respective cloths overlap one another and are fixed by a single bar 18. Cloth segments 22, Fig. 5, are supported on inverted perforated channel elements or trays 26, the ends of each cloth segment being lapped round the flanges of the corresponding element, and fixed by wedging with the adjacent element. The :inner faces of the trays may be covered by perforated sheets of metal or of textile or other porous material. The Provisional Specification describes apparatus in which the drum itself is formed of hollow sections the outer faces of which are perforated.
