Web - feeding arrangements.-In a web arrangement for typewriters, calculating-machines, and the like, the web 1, Fig. 1, passes over a platen provided with line-spacing mechanism, and is carried by two spools 2, 5 either of which can be driven by hand or power to wind the web thereon for the purpose of rapidly bringing the required part of the web to the printing line. Preferably the spools are provided with magnetic clutches 10, 22 each consisting of a member 12 splined on a driven shaft 11, and a member 14 provided with a flange 15 having a lug 17 engaging the spool flange. A spring 13 is arranged between the members 12, 14. On depressing a key 8 or 21, a motor 9 is started, the member 12 of the clutch 10 or 22 moves into engagement with the member 14, and the web winds on the spool 5 or 2. When the required part of the web is near the platen the key is released, thereby stopping the motor and releasing the clutch, and the spool is turned by means of a knob 18 or 23 to effect fine adjustment of the web. The spools are braked by means of springs 16 abutting on the flanges 15. The spool 5 has a spring-pressed bar 7 for securing the web. The spools are mounted at one end on pins 19 and on being pushed against the flanges 15 can be detached.
