Abstract

290,669. Lebre, F May 20, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Compressor w i t h fluid chambers exposed to varying fluid pressures.-Fluid is compressed in stages by the expansion of another or the same kind of fluid in stages, each partial expansion causing a corresponding partial compression of fluid at a slightly different pressure, either by direct communication of the two bodies of fluid or by direct or indirect action on a piston or other separator. Fig. 3 shows a nest of rotary chambers 1 surrounding a distributor 7 formed with connecting passages and with inlet ports 9, 10 for the motor and compressor fluid. In the sector a-b, the chambers fluid is being compressed by inlet from the chambers in the sector c-d; the sector b-c constitutes the motor exhaust and the sector d-a the compressor delivery. If the walls separating the chambers are in the form of blades, their rotation will effect the inlet and delivery of the fluid. Figs. 4. 5 show a rotary set of chambers each having a free piston &c. Compressible fluid is drawn in through the inlet 13 and delivered through the outlet 11, while the motor fluid is supplied and withdrawn at the parts 9, 10. The piston rods 6 may be controlled by links or by the cam 14. In modifications, two nests of chambers may be employed rotating relatively without a distributor; the chambers may be fixed, with a rotating distributor; the cylinders may be disposed parallel in a ring around the distributor; the pistons may be replaced by blades.
