Girders.-Trussed girders are formed by welding together rolled sections, the booms or chords 10, 11 being H or I beams placed with the flanges vertical. The struts 12, shown as T-sections, are welded at 15, 17 to the inner faces of the flanges and to the webs of the booms, and the ties 13, shown as channels, are welded to the outer faces of the booms. Transverse struts 18 and end plates 14 may be added, and also short plates 23 forming seats for purlins, and additional strengthening plates 24 on the upper and lower booms. In a modification shown in Figs. 8 and 10, the struts 32 are vertical H or I sections placed with the webs in the planes of the flanges of the boom. Instead of pairs of struts, single vertical struts may be placed centrally between the boom flanges.
