Abstract

288,436. South Metropolitan Gas Co., Parrish, P., Snelling, F. C., aid Weight, O. W. April 13, 1927. Ammonia and other gas solutions, distilling.- The waste gases from coal carbonizing retorts are used for recovering the ammonia from the ammoniacal liquor by passing them through a setting b containing a waste heat boiler c and a tubular heater d. The ammoniacal liquor is preheated in the heater d and is then passed through a still h where the ammonia is distilled off by steam generated in the boiler c. Milk of lime is supplied to the still through a pipe n and the effluent is removed through a pipe m.
