Abstract

288,361. Claydon, G. T. Jan. 3, 1927. Buoyant life-saving chambers.-A lifeboat for transporting the crew of a disabled submarine to the surface is accommodated in a recess G, Fig. 20, in the hull and is entered from the interior of the submarine by way of a compartment K, Fig. 19, and a tube P which is closed at its end by a door whilst the port in the stern of the boat is closed by a door A. Both these doors as well as a door in the hatchway M in the cover of the boat are operated by mechanism comprising a lever C, Fig. 1, which moves the spider B over inclines L on the frame. The lifeboat is secured in its recess by coupling-members E which engage with recesses F in the sides of the. boat and arelocked therein by cams O which are simultaneously operated through suitable linkwork from a centrally disposed control lever in the boat. The lifeboat resks on chocks H adjacent to. which are drainage tubes J.
