Abstract

288,126. Oranienburger Chemische Fabrik Akt.-Ges., (Assignees of Chemische Fabrik Milch Akt.-Ges.). April 1, 1927. [Convention date]. Grant of Patent opposed. Fats, splitting; cleansing-compositions.-Products which are suitable for splitting oils fats and waxes, or which may be used as detergent, alone or with water-insoluble solvents, mineral oils, fatty substances, water soluble or insoluble alcohols, ketones, or the like, are obtained by sulphonating with strongly sulphonating agents, namely, halogen sulphonic acids, or mixtures which yield the same, or a mixture of sulphuric acid and phosphorus pentoxides, mixtures of fatty substances, with aliphatic or aromatic acids, oxyacids, keto-acids, acid anhydrides or acid chlorides. Acetic, propionic or butyric acid or their anhydrides or chlorides are particularly suitable for mixing with fatty substances. In examples, (1) castor oil is mixed with acetic acid anhydride and treated with chlorsulphonic acid, (2) wood olein containing 50 per cent unsaponifiable constituents is mixed with lactic acid and treated with chlorsulphonic acid. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also states that mixtures of fatty substances with mineral oils, lactones, alcohols and ketones may be sulphonated, and states that all fats, fatty acids, oxy-fatty acids, resins, distillation products of resins, such as rosin oils, tall " oils, blubber oils or naphthene acids may be used. Reference is made to the sulphonation with chlorsulphonic acid of a mixture of a fatty acid such as olein and an alcohol such as isopropyl alcohol. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
