High-tension switches. - Disconnecting knife switches for overhead transmission lines c bridge the space between stretching insulators a which at their inner ends are secured to laterally displaced supports and, at their outer ends, are secured to the transmission lines. The connection between the line and insulator is formed at one side with a hinge member for knife-blade contactmembers d and at the other side with clip contacts. In the form shown in Fig. 1a, a pair of laterally-displaced posts e<1> are used in conjunction with a quadrilateral arrangement of insulators a. The transmission lines are connected to the free ends of the quadrilateral which are formed as the hinge member and contact f respectively for the contact-member d. This may move upwardly or downwardly to break contact. In a modification, Fig. 2a two pairs of parallel insulators are secured to a bracket e and are connected at their free ends by cross pieces f to which the transmission lines are secured. On the cross-pieces are mounted hinging and contact provision for the curved knife blade d. The Specification as open to Inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a construction, see Fig. 3 (Cancelled), in which a pair of insulators is supported at the same point by a bracket (so that the insulators are co-linear with the transmission line) and the knife blade d extends between contacts at the free ends of the insulator. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
