Vacuum tubes.-In a valve according to the parent Specification, a filament support 9<1> is secured directly by a screw 5<1> to a head 1, and the other support 9 is secured against an insulator 4 by a screw 5 which is insulated by a washer 14 and mounted in a fluid-cooled chamber, the arrangement being such that access is readily obtained to both screws. The head is separated by a glass or quartz sleeve 2 from the anode 3, and the overlapping ends of the joints are protected against electron bombardment by metallic guards 11 - - 13. Cooling fluid such as water, oil, or kerosine may be supplied separately or in series to the anode jacket 10, a chamber 8 in the head, and the system 7 for the filament conductors. In a modification both filament conductors are insulated. Specification 236,220 is referred to.
