Insecticides. - Base-exchanging bodies which are good insecticides are obtained by reacting potassium vanadite, diluted with cellite, quartz fragments, ground glass, neutral silicates, sand, silica gel, ground rocks, tuffs, lava, pumice meal, or asbestos fibres, with vanadyl sulphate, and spraying the product with sulphuric, phosphoric, or nitric acid to form a salt-like body. The dried and pulverized product may be impregnated with solutions of copper sulphate and sodium arsenate. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), comprises also the following subject-matter. An insecticide is obtained by mixing solutions of aluminium sulphate and zinc and copper nitrates, stirring in ground calcium arsenate, making just alkaline with caustic soda, drying the product below 100‹ C., hydrating at 40-50‹ C., exchanging the sodium for mercury by digesting with a mercury chloride solution, drying, and mixing with sodium chloride. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
