Thickness of paper, regulating and gauging.-The thickness of'paper is regulated by a lath 15 placed behind the usual froth ledges 12 and mounted on a lath carried 16 vertically adjusted by means of a screw spindle and fitted in recesses 18 in end plates 19 rotatable by a worm 21 and sector 20 in the side cheeks 7. Local adjustment throughout the length of the lath 15 is made by regulating screws 22. Jets of liquid, steam, or gas act on the gap between the cheeks 7 and the wire cloth to prevent leakage of pulp.
