491,280. Straightening. UNGERER, F. Oct. 21, 1937, No. 28698. [Class 83 (iv)] In a straightening machine with one or several short rolls movable longitudinally and transversely, the short straightening rolls are of crowned shape. A crowned roll d substituted for one of the normal staggered rolls is rotated by a shaft d<1>, longitudinally adjusted by a screw f, and transversely adjusted by a cam i rotated by a quadrant t. The transverse adjustment may be effected by wedge or fluid pressure. Two rolls may be adjusted by independent means.
