Abstract

285,066. Bonwitt, G. Feb, 11, 1927. [Convention date]. Cellulose xanthates, processes for making filaments from.-Threads exhibiting a reduced lustre are prepared by emulsifying with the viscose a small proportion of chlorbenzene, for example, a mixture of mono- and di-chlorbenzene. The chlorbenzene evaporates during the drying operation. In order that separation may not occur during the ageing process and subsequent filtrations, the addition should have the same specific weight as the viscose to be spun. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes the use, as an addition, of any emulsified substance that will not produce gas during the manufacture of the thread, but which will evaporate during the drying operation; and it refers to the addition of xylene and hydrogenated naphthalenes, or mixtures of these, including mixtures with chlorbenzene. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
