Abstract
284,723. Rigaux, G. Feb. 5, 1927, [Convention date]. Brick presses combined with excarators. - A portable machine for digging and moulding clay &c. comprises a carriage 8 supporting brick presses and equipped with digging-apparatus. As shown, the digging-apparatus comprises blades 20. carried by a frame 18 which is reciprocated vertically by a lever 22 and is connected by links 27 to a frame 29 frictionally engaging a guide 34 to advance the blades 20 into the clay wall 46. A bucket elevator 4 delivers the severed clay to shoots 11, 12 leading to hoppers 3, 2 of the brick presses. The shoot 12 is periodically raised by a crank 14 to cause alternate feed to the hoppers. Part of the clay is delivered to the elevator 4 by a shoot 36 and the remainder by a scoop 37<1> which is reciprocated by a crank 39 and rod 38. Motion is imparted to the pulley 6 which drives the crank 14 through chain gears 9, 17 and the elevator 4 through a chain 5, and also operates the lever 22 through a crank 25. The machine is advanced progressively by chain gear.
