Abstract

Fuel, feeding.-The plunger 5 of a reciprocating fuel feeder is provided on its under side with recesses 16 for collecting coal dust which enters between the plunger and its support. The coal in the recesses is discharged through apertures 17 in the supporting bracket 3. The sides of the plunger are stepped at 18. The upper surface of the plunger is stepped at 9 and 13 and its nose 12 is removable. The plunger is operated by a screw 4 adapted to be driven in opposite directions and at variable speed.
