Abstract

293,979. Foulis, D., and Hillman, C. E. July 16, 1927. Reciprocating-saw machines.-A saw is reciprocated by a handle 8 at one end, the other end being carried by a trolley 4 running between a pair of slide rods 3 mounted on a fixed bracket 1. The saw may be set to cut at an angle to the vertical plane by adjusting the slide rods out of the vertical by turning the plates 12 on the pivot pins 13. The saw or its mounting is pivoted about an axle 5 on the trolley so that it is free to feed itself downwards. It may also be mounted so that it is free to be directed to cut in an inclined plane either horizontally or vertically. Rubber buffers-16 receive the impact of the trolley. A wooden support 9 receives the free end of the saw when not in use.
