Abstract
284,005. Franklin, C. S. Oct. 19, 1926. Air-space cables.-A cable for transmitting high frequency electrical energy, e.g., to or from an aerial for short wave radio telegraphy or telephony consists of an inner conductor 1 located within and air-insulated from an outer conductor 2, which is preferably earthed. The conductors mav be tubular and concentric as shown or may be either or both of channel section. In the concentric arrangement, the inner conductor is supported by porcelain, glass, mica etc. insulators 3 so arranged that the material of the support is not continuous between the conductors in any tranverse plane. Preferably the diameter of the outer conductor is 3.7 times that of the inner conductor.
