Abstract
283,833. Wagner, I., and Neher, C. A., (trading as Wagner & Neher, Maschinenfabrik Eisenbau). Feb. 10, 1927, [Convention date]. Stands.-A cycle stand of the type having one or a series of inclined channeled rests 1 to receive the wheels is provided at the bottom of each rest with a guide or ramp 4, 7, which is adapted to engage the ground and guide the rear wheel into the rest and is pivoted at 5, so that it can be tilted into the position shown, either automatically or by hand or foot, to prevent the cycle from running back or from tilting sideways. The ramp is tilted automatically by the pressure of the rear wheel on a strip metal extension 8, which has a downwardly bent arm 9 passing through a slot in the rest 1. In removing the cycle, the rear wheel is lifted off the ramp, which then rocks by gravity into the normal position, the arm 9 temporarily checking the run of the front wheel down the rest. The rear edge of the ramp is provided with a rounded beading 11 to prevent injury to the tyres. The ramp may be made in two parts 4, 7, the outer part 7 being adapted to fold inwards about the pivot 5 to save space when the stand is not in use.
