Abstract

283,301. Banks, F. Oct. 23. 1926. Operating and controlling doors by clockwork and the like.-A door. such as the sliding door O of a hen house and the like, is adapted to be lifted into an open position at a predetermined time bv a clutch-driven pulley P on an extended spindle A of an alarm-clock mechanism, the clutch being released subsequently by a striker to free the pulley and allow the door to close. The door O is connected to the pulley P by a cord P', and the catch C engages a tooth on the back of the pulley and with one end of a pivoted member R on a disc W secured to the spindle A. When the alarm spindle A is rotated at a predetermined time the pulley P is also rotated and the door raised. When it is time to close the door a striker S falls on the member R and frees the pulley from the disc W, the door then closing by its weight. A cross-piece on the shaft A may serve to brake this falling movement. The application to food hoppers is referred to.
