Abstract

283,199. Carr Fastener Co., (Assignees of Carr, F. S.). Jan. 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Stud-and-socket fastenings.-The socket 3 of the fastener, made from a single piece of metal, has an annular back B substanially parallel with the front face A, the part B being formed by inturned portions of different formations and comprising portions 9<a> the ends of which are bent inwards to bear against and position the usual spring 14, portions 10 which overlie the spring and retain it in place, and portions 12 the ends of which are bent up to constitute prongs 6 which are passed through the material 5 and slots 17 in a back plate 7, and are then clinched to secure the socket in place. The prongs 6 are spaced from the outer edge of the socket, as shown. The fastening shown is of the kind in which the socket is readily detachable from the stud 13 by pulling at one side, say the lower edge of the material 5, but not at the other three sides, for which purpose the back plate 7 has an outstanding portion 15 closely fitting against the shank 16 of the stud on three sides.
