Abstract
536,067. Stud fastenings. UNITED - CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Nov. 3, 1939, No. 29309. Convention date, Nov. 15, 1938. [Class 44] A stud fastening for securing together apertured members such as a floor, mat or upholstery 1 and a floor or other support 2 has a series of teeth for selectively engaging the edge of the aperture in the support to allow for different thicknesses. The fastener shown is made from a strip of metal bent to provide a flat head 11 with depending legs 8, 9. The head may have a finishing cap 18. The legs first diverge from the head, then extend substantially parallel, and finally converge at their free ends. In use, the upper and lower ends of the legs abut at 14, 3 to " stiffen " the resilient action of the device. The edges of the legs have series of ratchet teeth 10 which are bent out of the planes of the legs to extend substantially radially outwards, as in Fig. 2. The fastener is passed through registering apertures in the parts 1, 2 and pressed home, the appropriate teeth engaging behind the edge of the aperture in support 2.
