Abstract
282,964. Simpson, S. Dec. 4, 19Z6. Gas meters.-Oil contained in a storage tank b arranged in the valve chamber a of a dry gas is delivered through a tube d<12> by a pump d<1> to a reservoir f from which oil is distributed to the working parts of the meter mechanism through tubes g. The level of oil in the reservoir f is' maintained constant by an overflow pipe f<2> leading back to the tank b. The pump plunger d' is operated from one of the flag wire arms e by links d', d<8>, a shaft d<4>, and an arm d<5> engaging a double collar d<6> on the plunger. The flow of oil through the tubes g is controlled by valves or wool plugs provided at the ends of the tubes. A filling tube c extends from the exterior of the meter into a part of the tank b isolated from the remainder by a partition b<1> over which oil flows into the tank, whereby the tube c is always immersed in oil. The tube c is closed by a plug c<2> provided with a wire retainer c<3> adapted to engage a slotted fitting c<4>. The surfaces of the parts on to which oil is supplied by the tubes g such as the valves m, tangent and crank arms i, k are recessed or ribbed so as to confine the oil to definite paths and lead it to the required points.
